Vacation?

The real question becomes, can you ever have a vacation when you have kids, as long as you take the kids with you? I think not. So, I don't know that I would call what we did last week a vacation, but it was a break from the routine none the less.

Wednesday, our original plan was to go swimming at Scera or Seven Peaks, but the weather wasn't great so, we went to Cars the Movie again. It was great because we got a private showing of the movie at the Water Gardens Theater. After that we put the kids down for a nap so we could pack. Then we headed to Park City. We stopped in Heber at the Dairy Keen for dinner. They have a train themed restaurant and the kids loved it. We had some issues with our reservation at Deer Valley and ended up spending the first night at The Lodges because they had our reservation a week later. It was actually okay because the room was nice and they had a pool. We took the kids swimming that night.

Thursday was Park City day, so we first went shopping at the outlets. But we didn't have room to pack the stroller so, we stopped off at Walmart and bought a wagon. We figured that my parents could bring it home for us (they were in Park City too). So, we shopped at the outlets, but the kids weren't great. We got done what we needed to though. Then we took the kids back to our condo for lunch and a nap. That morning we were moved into a new space (up the mountain, picture shown above). It was not as nice as we've seen, but still nice for the amount we paid and for the space we got. It is so nice to have a full kitchen, living room and two separate bedrooms. It's the only way to vacation. After lunch and naps we headed to the Park City Mountain Resort to ride the Alpine Slide. We decided to first eat dinner at Baja (my favorite place to eat in Park City). Then we rode the slide. We rode the lift up, and then grabbed our sleds to ride down. They've added two new slides since I've been there. The newer ones are slower, so those are the ones we went on. Ashton went with me, and Emma went with Mike (pictures below). It was lots of fun. That night we drove main street on the way home and then hot tubed at Mom and Dad's condo.

Friday was swimming day - but the weather wasn't great. That morning it was really chilly. We were maybe going to swim at a pool in Park City, but it was way to cold, so we drove out to Kamas to swim at their aquatics center. It's indoor, so that was perfect. When we started our drive there, it was 58 degrees. Anyway, the aquatic center was great. They had an awesome kiddy area, a small lazy river, and a big water slide. We had lots of fun. They even had a bigger kid area, and a low and high dive. It was well worth the 20 minute drive to Kamas. We came home after swimming and did lunch and nap. That night for dinner we ate at Main Street Pizza and Noodle and we walked Main Street a little bit.

Saturday we didn't have plans, and that meant we had a hard time deciding what to do. We hung around the condo for several hours in the morning. While the kids napped, mom and I went to the Park City Arts Festival on Main Street. There was some good stuff, but I never seem to have places for anything. After nap time, we went to mom and dad's condo to have dinner with them. It was fun to spend some time with them. Their hot tub was not working that day, so no hot tubing that night.

Then Sunday came and it was time to go home. We took our time to get packed up and out of there. We left our condo at about noon, and took a little detour so that Ashton could see some construction trucks. As we traveled home we decided to come over the Alpine Loop. It was nice. We got home at about 2:00 and took some time to clean up and run some laundry.

All in all we had a good time. Most of the pictures we took, we took on the camera we could get wet, at the water park. And my parents were with us at the Alpine Slide so they took pictures for us. Thanks mom for sending the Alpine Slide pictures.
