Super Fun (and Busy) Weekend

Well you'll never believe what we squeezed in this weekend.

Friday night was date night. We've had plans to go see Eragon on opening night for weeks. And to do dinner with the Randall's since we missed our date night with them when Guster canceled their SLC show. So, that's what we did. Melinda's been ill, but felt well enough that night to go to dinner. The trick was to find someplace that we could get into at 7:45 - 8:00. We got right into Winger's so that was really good. We had a great time chatting with the Randall's. Thanks. Eragon was okay. The book was tons better. I think they just tried to make the movie too short. They just didn't do it justice.

Saturday, Mike went to work, and my parents drove into town. They were really late, so, I did stuff around the house, and hung out with the kids till about 4:00. Then we drove out to Mapleton to do the Howell family Christmas party. My mom's side of the family draws names and does a gift exchange.

Mike and I didn't exchange with anyone this year, but the kids did. And they had a great time with their gifts. It's nice that they don't get all of their toys in one day.

Sunday brought lots of snow to PG. On Saturday we had about an inch. So, thin you could still see the grass sticking through. But by Sunday, we had 7-8 inches. Mike went out in the morning to shovel. And Ashton had just gotten new snow boots. He was so excited to go outside. Mike came in to go home teaching, so I got the kids dressed and went out to play with them in the snow.

Ashton had so much fun. He stayed outside long after Mike and I came in (Mike didn't end up going home teaching, so he came out and took pictures of us). Emma on the other hand, couldn't keep her gloves on, so her hands kept getting cold. I finally just had to take Emma inside.

Once we came inside, my parents came over. They brought a Christmas gift as well. We got a brand new (new to us) train table for the kids. They sure love it. Emma had a little breakdown, so, she had to take a nap. That afternoon we drove to Nephi for the annual Kay Family Christmas Party. My mom's mom's side of the family have a Christmas Party every year the Sunday before Christmas. This party is great because we get to see Santa.

Ashton proudly told Santa all of the Thomas trains he wanted. It was so cute. Emma told Santa that she wanted a "babe". It's so fun to hear their cute little kid voices.

Then, Mike and I had an extended weekend. We spent yesterday skiing in 20 inches of powder at Sundance.

Wow - life is good.
