Camping

My big kids (Ashton and Emma) got to go camping with Mike early in July (11 & 12).  I stayed home with the little kids.  Mike wanted to go to Pete's Hole, but didn't want to do it the long way.  He tried to get there through Ephriam, but ran into to much snow.  He thinks he was within about 20 miles.  It was a long drive to not get there.

Emma is queen of her mountain

Beautiful view

Check out the snow

They had a fun time playing in the snow and checking out the view before they headed back down and revised their plan and went to Boulder Reservoir.

Instead of cooking dinner, they ate at McDonald's (the kids didn't complain).  And they still got to Boulder in time to roast some marshmallows.  That's all they needed to call it a good night.

Nothing better than marshmallows on a stick

Mike said they didn't sleep very well.  Mike and Emma got up in the middle of the night to do a bathroom run.  And the kids were up way early in the morning.  They went on bike rides, fished, played with a snake, and hung out in the back of the vehicle while it rained.

They had a great time.  I'm so glad that Mike was willing and able to take them camping this summer.  They sure enjoyed it.

Either someone was hungry or bored - Ashton's hilarious

It looks like they had fun. They should have just dug a snow cave and spent the night there. I hear that sleeping in the snow is rather warm!
