The room with the most water damage (if you look close, there is mold growing on the walls).
This is the water damage in the second room, mostly in the closet.
This is the family room with all the stuff from the rooms with water damage in them. The sad news is that there is that this is not all the stuff.
I really wanted to give Emma her own bedroom and hence a big girl bed. Since Emma was born, Ashton and Emma have been sharing a room. And at Christmas time last year when we moved her to a bed, but we only had room to move her to a toddler bed. So, we made a trip to IKEA Saturday night to buy Emma a bed. We were having a hard time finding the bed we wanted but were able to talk to someone who was really helpful. And we got the Hemnes twin bed for Emma. We even had time to stop at the DI on the way home to get Emma a mattress. We had also planned to by a dresser but it was out of stock.
Over the weekend because Monday was Labor Day, we had to decide if we wanted to do the whole room thing (which included painting bedrooms) or if we wanted to wait because of the whole basement issue. See, there are other issues involved too. We've been using the other bedroom upstairs to be a TV and a computer room. It has been nice because Mike and I tend to spend so much time on the computer that the kids can watch TV and we can be on the computer and we can all be in the same room. It has also been nice to shut the kids in a bedroom on a day we want to sleep in. So, it has been a really hard decision as to whether or not to give up that room.
I had scheduled to have the carpet cleaned in the kids bedrooms on Tuesday and so we decided to move forward with our plan.
Even though Mike was sick, he spent all day Monday painting. In Emma's room we did some touch up and painted the bottom part of all the walls green. She kept the room that the kids previously shared.
Emma's room before (when the kids shared it).
Emma's room now. We plan to put up a chair rail painted white to separate the green and the tan.
Ashton got the old TV/Computer room. We painted three walls a tan color (the same color that was in Ashton and Emma's room). And then we painted one wall blue.
Ashton's room before. There was the TV and the computer on one wall and a futon on the other.
This is Ashton's room now, blue wall and all. It is really dark, but I do like it.
That night we made sure everything was out of the kids room so that the carpet could be cleaned and we could move them in Tuesday night. We had the kids sleep on their mattresses Monday night. It was the last night that the kids officially shared a room.
This is our front room with everything from the kids bedroom so we can clean their carpets.
